Does anybody have a Oregon Scientific ATC-1000 Action Camera? I would like to see recorded video from it. I have no idea what 640x480 @ 15 fps looks like. I have seen 24fps in which I noticed that the movement was not natural. 15 fps has got to look really bad. However I want to see for myself and also show a coworker who is into mountain biking big time.

Heres the web site for the cam..
http://www.atc-1000.com/default.asp
I couldnt find the memory size or video code it uses, Im guessing ASF.
640X480 at 15 is pretty decent, TMPGEnc can re-encode to 29.97 (ntsc) or 25?(pal) for a DVD just fine.
The resolution will resize to D1 NTSC no problems, so Im guessing it will resize to PAL standards similarly.
The price is right, $120 USD! Its a very cool concept. My only question is how much memory, and is it upgradable? If you can only do 60 seconds of video at 640X480 and cant upgrade the money, I myself would pass.
BTW, if you pick it up, make sure you post some sample vids you take!!
Good luck,
Andrw
Update: has 32 meg, with SD slot, Id get it, and a 256 or 512 meg card.I have been into computers since 1980. Ive been tinkering with DV in one flavor or another since 1990. -
BTW, heres a WMV commercial of it... Looks pretty damn cool! Im into Judo, so I cant see using the cam for that, but if I were skater or biker, would be awesome!

My coworker was thinking of getting a 1 GB card if he bought this. I am sure it records mpeg4. Probably xvid. At 1 mbps that would be about 133 minutes.

I finally found passable video that is at 15fps. One of the videos does give a headache from the pausing. http://purgatorybikes.com/photos/videos2.html
Obviously at a lesser quality than http://iwantmymtb.com/index.html but this guy uses a $700 camera and lens. He does quote this website, which I think is cool.
I will show my coworker both of these websites to let him know. But for $160 camera and SD card I think he will opt for the Oregon Scientific."EL EXTRANJERO ME SIENTO"
