After many hours of attempted dvd burning, i've come to this forum. Every program that i use to burn my computer movies onto dvds converts video format such as .avi and .mpeg into dvd format and burns it from there. It even converts dvd format (mpeg 2) into dvd format again. The problem with this is i'm allowed to accumulate about 1.25GB worth of movies so that after conversion into dvd format it just makes it fit on the dvd. This is a problem becaues mpeg-II is already a huge file size as is so why does it convert it again? I always end up over the dvd limit. All i want to know is what program directly burns videos that are already in dvd format without converting anything? For example if i accumulate 4.5GB of mpeg-II movies that will be the size of the file i'm burning onto dvd. As apposed to what's been happening to me where everything gets multiplied by a factor of 3.5 or so.Also i would like to edit with this program. thanks a bunch

use better tools like tmpgenc dvd author that does NOT reconvert the mpeg2 video. you can also do basic editing with tmpgenc dvd author.

If you put them directly on a DVD you will be able to play them on your computer and on some DVD players (but not many).

Do you want to play these mpegII files on a regular DVD player? Are these mpegII files DVD ready?

If yes, then you need to author them using something like TDA as Baldrick suggested.

I just got that program and it's giving me more problems than i expected. let me quickly fill you in on the programs i use and what my goal is.

I have "ads dvd express" which converts my vhs tapes to playable movies onto my computer. you can chose which output format you want the movies to be on your computer including vcd, svcd, and dvd. I use dvd because i would to like to transfer all my vhs tapes to dvds. Ulead dvd burning software was included with the vhs converter but that program kept freezing everytime i used it. I downloaded tmpgenc dvd author and it wouldn't even except one of my movies that i had on my hardrive which came from the vhs converter( the file was in mpeg2 dvd format). The error was "divide by 0".
I also would like to burn some anime to dvd and watch it on my dvd player. I have Blaze Media Pro which converts any input video file to any output video file. I converted a anime with a .avi extension to a mpeg2 with dvd extension and that program TMPGEnc_DVD_Author said the audio was at different frequency and wouldn't take the audio track.
So two mpeg2's weren't working with that program, what do i do?

Convert the audio to the correct sample rate for DVD.
    48kHz

Well I'll probably get slammed for this but I usually use NeroVision Express 3, part of Nero 6. It will do all that you ask. Make sure to tick 'Enable Smart Encoding' so it won't re-encode DVD ready files. It will accept almost any type of vid file including NTSC and PAL and in any combination. If your project is too large it will have to be re-encoded, you can adjust the bitrate till it fits.

Download the demo and see if it suits your needs.
