    I have noticed slightly stilted motion on DVIX files encoded to DVD with mpeg2enc. Since the original frame rate was NTSC film (23.9 fps), will this have to do with my having left the 3:2 pulldown option checked?

    That is possible. If you encode to NTSC FILM for DVD, 3:2 pulldown should be always used.
