    Hi,

I'm trying to burn a DVD+R DL and am having problems.
I have a Pioneer 109 DVD burner with the latest firmware (v1.57) which specifically says it can burn DVD+R DL.

I feel my problem may lie with the software I'm using.

I have tried burning using DVD Shrink v3.2, Roxio Easy CD&DVD Creator v6.2, Clone DVD 2 and Nero 6.0.
All tell me that I'm not able to burn the DVD for various reasons.

When I check the specs of my drive using Nero & Roxio Drive Test utilities, it identifies a Dual Layer capable drive that can write DVD+R DL.

So why can't I burn my disc?
I feel that it's software-related. Do I needed specific software?

    HELP!

    Thanks.

    Folks,

I have just updated to Nero 6.6 and noticed that it can burn DVD+R DL.
This confirms that the problem lies within the software that is was using.

    My question now is:
What versions of the following software do I need in order to be able to burn DVD+R DL?
    - Clone DVD
    - Roxio Easy CD & DVD Creator
    - DVD Shrink

    Thanks.

DVDDecrypter works for me. ImgBurn might do the trick too.

Well, DVD Decrypter and ImgBurn are in effect, the same program.

But, yeah, DVD Decrypter is the best DVD ripping and burning program out there.

DVD Shrink doesn't do burning directly .. it will only output to nero (ie you need nero installed to set the burn in shrink) or it can be set to create an ISO image to be burned with DVDDecrypter or ImgBurn

Shrink also will burn directly to VSO Copytodvd and as psx-pirate said above you can have shrink output an ISO that can be burned with any burning software that burns ISOs.

CloneDVD2 latest version will write to DVD, DVD9, DVD RAM, Mini DVD, or DVD Custom, on the second screen you will see a selection box for the type media you are using (provided your drive supports that media)

I have dumped Nero, wont use ROXIO, and have been using ONES for quite a while, nice burning program with options for everything I burn and no BLOAT

Nero works for me and it includes tons of useful options not available in other burning packages or software that you must purchase in addition to other burning packages.

I've been burning verbatim and fuji DL discs for a while now with record now deluxe.I use a Nec 3540 with a modified firmware, and an updated burning engine for record now i found from a company called orlogix. They all work perfectly. The discs you use is a big factor in DL burning also.Ritek DL media is not a good choice. Some brand names are also rebranded riteks.
