It made like 60 million dollars this weekend and they're calling that "lukewarm." I guess that's true compared to the cost, but geez- 60 mil is a lot of money.
I wonder if this'll build up steam and just keep going like Titanic? Personally I thought it was great (Kong, not Titanic). I was very ready to hate it but I ended up really liking it.

it made over 148 million world wide this weekend ... and it will do ok, as it is playing over christmas school holidays ..
it cost 207 million ..plus another 100 million for marketing ..
it certainly will not lose money anyway ...
the new superman (returns) movie is another story -- with production costs OVER 250 million (and getting close to 300 million) PLUS pre production costs of 50 million (this movie has been in preproduction for over 10 years) .. plus another 150 million est. for marketing ..
this movie will have to break some records to break even ..."Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -
Went with my 12 year old daughter to see it on Sunday. Really enjoyed it. Did not feel too long althought it is over 3 hours, unlike LOTR, in my opinion.
The effects are ok, but not awesome, there are bits where you think oh that looks fake. The bit where Kong kicks 3 t-rex's butts is cool.
