I’m hoping that this is just a wrong setting on my part. When I capture from my VCR using the Hauppauge WINTV card that came with my HP Computer I don’t always get a useable file.
When I do a manual start and stop with the capture portion of the Sony software that came with the computer I get nothing but a corrupted file. When I use the timer I get a file but often it’s been stopped before the timer stops; leaving me with another useless MPG file.
I’ve checked the settings in the options part of the software, but can’t see anything that doesn’t match the hardware I have.
I’d like to keep the capture card I have; I’d just like it to work properly. Maybe someone has run into this before and has found a solution I’d appreciate knowing the answer.

Have you tried using the Hauppage software? If it's not on your computer it can be downloaded from their site. BTW while your there make sure you have the latest drivers for your card too.
