The VAD8041/01 is the dvd unit used in the hdrw 720/00 model.
They used standard computer dvd writer drives in the 720

Maybe someone knows the models used in the 720/01 02 03 models??

Hi,

Did anyone have any success on finding/buying a VAD8041/01?

I have a DVDR 725H/02 with a DVD burner that has a burnt out chip.

I have tried hooking up a standard internal DVD Recorder to the IDE connector but the system shows the same effects (see below).

With no DVD Recorder the system does not seem to run it's boot sequence to the end because it switches into standby after a while.

Plus there is nothing displayed on the TV. The TV recognises a signal on my AV input though.

Although it could be completely knackered and ready for the disassemble procedure.

Any info on the DVD would be appreciated.

I to have the misfortune to own a Philips 725 DVDR which hs a faulty DVD drive.

Did anyone have any success in finding a replacement unit for the VAD8041/01 Philips DVD drive unit?

Anyone know of alternatives to try?

Hello. I have the same problem whit a DVDR 725/00, I´m trying a drive LG 4082B and I can read all type disks but I can not write anything, that is only possible in "slave" mode, in other modes, system reboot and take off.

Sorry my english is not good.

i'm not going to replace it anymore seeing the problems i had with it.
Im looking now for a working replacement , but not the vad8041 .

If i take yours , it wil go bust in a few monds...
