  1. Hi all,

I am using DVD-lab Pro 1.0. Currently I have a plain menu with links to nine chapters in one long movie. Each chapter is the start of a specific episode. What I want to do is that when a user selects a link to a specific chapter in the menu, only that chapter will play, and once that chapter has ended, the user will be returned to the menu, where they can then choose another epsiode to watch.

    Is this possible to do?

Any help would be most appreciated.

  2. Look up the term "playlist". This can do what you want.

Upgrade to 1.53 or 1.55 as well. Fixes a few things and adds a few things.

  4. Hi Mark,

Doesn't the play list function in DVD-Lab only work when one has multiple movies? In my case, I have one movie with chapter points that mark out the start of each episode. Would I still be able to use the playlist function?

    Cheers,

edit: Oh, it dawns on me, I need to use a chapter play-list...

  6. I think that you figured it out. You can enter what chapters in a movie that you want to play and at the end of whatever chapter is your last in the "chapter playlist", you will go back to the menu.

  7. Hey y'all,

    Thanks for your help.

I did go to the mediachance forums, and found out more info on how to do it.

I am now using DVD-lab Pro v1.53. I created 9 chapter playlists for each chapter in the movie. I have tested the movie, and indeed when a chapter ends, I am taken back to the menu. I've also set it so that the menu will remember which chapter has just been played. And I created a play all button, which was simple enough.

    Cheers,

  9. dvd-lab is bloody complicated and powerful! but I'm learning slowly. My next mission will be switched menus, motion menus with sound clips, and all and all! Wish me luck...

If you have mastered playlists then you are well on your way.

If I can offer some advice from experience, I have never been impressed by the built-in motion menu abilities of DVD Lab Pro. I find it's rendering to be poor, it's effects to be tacky, and it's process to be over-complicated (althouh some say this about everything DVD Lab Pro does). I produce any assets required for motion menus outside DLP. All video is produced in Vegas or After Effects (and soon, hopefully, Fusion), and rendered to mpeg2 before touching DLP. I find I get a much more polished output suing the best tools for the job.

I think DLP is a great authoring program, and Oscar has omitted a number of superfluous things, like built-in encoding etc, but some of the graphics tools he has included would be better off ditched as they just seem cheap and unfinished in their currect state.
