I'm using DVD Studio Pro 5, and I'm puttin' together the menus to a DVD.
I have a customized video (with audio) to play as the transition between screens when a button is pressed. I can get the video to play, but no audio. I don't see an option for an 'audio clip' to play.
Anyone know how to do this?

Um, you mean DVD Studio Pro 4 right?
Last I looked FCp was up to version 5,
but DVDSP was still at 4...
Anyways, here what you can accomplish
to do this. Unfortunately, DVDSP will not allow you
todo video with sound as a transition, but you can
fake what you want with a few steps:
1. Import your QT .mov file into DVDSP for the transistion.
( or dv or m2v and audio, whatever, so long as its
DVDSP compatible)
2.Under the Menu Palette ( selected when you
click once on the Menu itself), go to Transitions.
Select, say the dissolve transition, and set it for 1 minute.
3. Now, take your tween video ( for inbetween)
you imported in Step 1, and place it onto a new track.
Set this track to be end jump'd to your main track
or main story, depending on how you have the
DVD laid out.
Now
4. Select the Play button, and set its Target to be your
tween video track , and choose its transition to also
be a 1 minute dissolve.
Repeat for any other buttons that access chapter jumps,
or that you want the tween video to appear, such as
tween the MainMenu and the Main Movie, or the
Chapter Index and tween the Main Track.
Now, following these steps in this example,
once you simulate it,
the Play button when selected, should end jump to
the tween video track(& with sound) play, then jump to
the main track and play the movie/show/whatever.
Same for chapters, as well as the Menus.
4. That's it. I wouldn't have my transition video no longer
than 2mins, tops, as longer transitions will only
make you want to fast forward over them, and hate them later.
Just some quick cut type stuff should do it.

Makes sense to me, thanks. I'd have thought it could do audio in transitions. Guess I really was talking about Studio Pro 5 :P
I'll try it. I'm only confused with the 1-minute long disolve. Why so long of a disolve? I'm going for a quick 3-second transition, that should play seemlessly with the menu, so I'll just have it jump to that tween track without any fade. I always wondered what 'tween' meant. It's 'between' huh?

Because 1 minute is the lowest it will go AND look seemless.
Anything shorter ( 15 sec, 30 sec) will look akward,
unless you do "Nothing Set", in which in that case it still
will PAUSE for a few seconds ( on my older players, about
15 sec, and you can HEAR the laser switching tracks)
before making the jump. At least with a 1min fade,
IMHO, I found the fade to look more "professional" than
a straight jump, and it's not that much.
Yes, tween means "between". Term originated in animation
IIRC, to mean the action that happens "between frames or
cells", in this case, a transition."Everyone has to learn, so that they can one day teach."
