    Hello:

I have been testing with ffmpegx for 2 weeks now but couldn't get good result overall, please provide any advice if possible.

    What I want to achieve:

vob --> mp4 (I want to have the best video quality possible)

video codec: H.264 with bitrate of 4000kbps
    audio: AAC 192k
    screen size: 7200 x480

Issue #1: Even I specified 4000kbps constant bitrate, the encoded file of mp4 is always between 2500 to 3600kbps. How can I have a fix bitrate ?

Issue #2: I can't "join" all 4 vob files using ffmpegX. The error message says it doesn't support this video format yet.

Issue #3: Playing back encoded file on Mac is fine, but playing back on PC the picture quality is much darker.

    Thanks in advance,
    Dan

For best video quality, do not transcode.
#1: For good quality in H.264 at DVD resolution, 1213 kbit/sec is enough. (Click 'Best' button in the bitrate calculator.) 4000kbps may simply be more than needed for this codec. If x bytes are enough to describe a scene accurately, then there is no reason to use x+y bytes. Why the fixed bitrate, constant quality, thus VBR, seems closer to your goal?
#2: Use your ripper to output a title in a single vob.
    #3: ?
