Picked up the Digital Max DMD-R0501 during CCs BF Special, since I couldn't get thru OfficeMax to the get the LiteOn.
The box advertises it's only a DVD+R recorder. But the website shows it being both DVD+/-R.
It looks exactly like the new Lite On 1101.
It is multi-region (same codes as the 1101) and plays MPEG4 files as well.
Anyone with experience on this ?
There's a new update firmware for it as well...

I am trying to update the firmware for this DMD-R0501, downloaded the firmware from Digitalmax and burned it to the CD using Nero 7 as data disc and finalized it. When I inserted the dics in the DVD recorder, it said data disc and will not prompt to verified the update. What is wrong? Please help. Thanks

I actually never tried the new firmware. Was actually looking at doing it not too long ago.
Make sure the file is the only thing on the CD and the extension is the correct one.
Start the project as a "no multisession" and burn it using Disc-at-once. -
Here is what I got from LiteOn IT Corp the customer service
The update process is as below:
a. Download the firmware and rename the firmware in CAPS, but in the same letters.
b. Burn it to cd as ISO format with NERO.
c. Finalize the cd and put it in the unit.
d. Then the screen will jump out a menu. Select Yes option and it wills auto-refresh itself.
e. Then tray will come out when it finishes and you can go on with your favorable DVDs.
I'll try it out to see it works or not. Thanks
