I recently purchased Terminator 2 Extreme DVD and Stormchasers. Each has a DVD that contains a seperate disk with WMVHD video that is DRM protected. The primary problem is that when playing these WMVHD videos using Window Media Player 10 is that the video stops and starts, stutters so to speak. Task manager indicates that my cpu is begged at 96-100%.

When I play the none DRM protected movie trailers for these two movies, they play fine. The CPU is running around 30-40% utilization.

2.53 P4, 1Gb DRAM, nVidia GeForce 5200 (256mb), Window XP Home, onboard audio.

According to the System requirements for Stormchasers I should be golden - 2.4,XP,256DRAM,Windows Media Player. The requirements for T2 are a bit more than my system has.

Does anyone have experience with playing WMV with DRM? Is it normal that DRM begs CPU utilization?

Well, I also own T2 Extreme DVD and managed to only play it once using a public proxy server (as im in the wrong region) and it played flawlessly. Couldn't get it to play again cos i cant find a working proxy.

I also used WMP 10. Make sure there are no other tasks running in the background during playback. DRM just reuires a license for playback, other than that, playback should be normal.

Thanks for the reply. I am going to do a clean install and see what happens. I have been using WMP10. I have done all the patches for Interactual and so on. But the CPU is pegged at 100%. What were your system specs? Where you using Windows XP Home or XP Pro?

My system specs are listed under the computer details tab. I using Win XP Pro. One note is that i didn't bother installing the interactual player that the T2 discs prompt you for. Just opened the files through WMP and it then tries to connect to the net for license download.

Your system is quite a bit more juiced than mine.

I tried playing T2 with WMP also.

The real puzzler for me is why Stormchasers 720p stutters. My system meets ALL of the system requirements. My system does NOT meet all of the minimum sys reqs for T2 so I can accept that.

    Thanks again!
