  1. Looks like a new RPG is going to be released for the Sega Genesis, Sega Megadrive and Sega Nomad videogame systems, right in time for Christmas!

    http://www.beggarprince.com/

I had read speculations that it will be about 40 bucks, but I think that’s a bit over priced even for a new Genesis game.
Never the less, it looks pretty cool for Genesis Standards.

Interestingly enough, it seems that they'll also release an enhanced version later on for the SEGA MEGA CD!

For the combat system, it seems to utilize the traditional Final Fantasy style, turned based mechanics, rather than the real-time, action oriented of Zelda & Terranigma on the SNES.
Not exactly my cup of tea, but I know quite a few SEGA/RPG fan boys which should get pretty excited about this & will probably pick it up when it's released.

Other sites I have found concerning the game:

So, get those Genesis's dusted up off. At least until someone dumps the game that is…

    Here are some Pics:

A game for the original Sega Genesis? Mann, I'd figured that console has been long forgotten, except for the die-hard fans that own them. I still have my Genesis, connected together with the Sega CD, but for most others, that console will be nearly impossible to find nowadays. Only games I have gotten for my Sega were the Sonic games. Game looks cool though.

I've been trying to get a decently priced Genesis and Sega CD off ebay for a while now. Its been complicated by the fact that I want the original Tray loading one though, just like I used to have.

This has got to be a joke right?????? I never heard of a relaunch for a dead system before.

    Besides Sega's practically dead anyway.....
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

  5. No it's true, they're also releasing Super Fighter on the SEGA CD.

Both my SNES & Genesis are hooked up under my TV at the moment right next to my PS-2, Saturn & PSX.
I'm playing Trerranigma & Thunder Force III & much more happy with them than spending my time playing crap like Batman Begins (PS-2) or some lame FPS on the PC that you could play through it in less than 9hours!

Now if I could only find Streets of Rage 2 for the Geny, this would be some Holidays indeed!

  6. Anyways, this new “Beggar Prince” Genesis RPG is of no surprise since I have some friends at Frozen Utopia who are currently working on Neutopia III & a new RPG called Mysterious Song for the PC-Engine / TurboGrafX-16.

And then, there is also mindrec, who are developing a new Run-N-Gun, Platform Shooter for the PC-Engine called PC-Gunjin, similar to Contra & Gunstar Heroes.

This Spider Boss, is supposed to be fully articulated:

I think this is cool. Watch, there'll be a huge comeback in "CLASSIC" gaming consoles, that are smaller, cheaper, and more reliable. New games will be created for them, and they can play all the old games. Honestly, if that were the case, I think they'd have a decent market to build on. Not the largest, but quite a good size. Might even lessen pirated emulations of the games (or not).

Wow that frozenutopia looks exactly like the NES series DRAGON WARRIOR!

  9. Yes, one of the sprite artists at frozen utopia that I know, is greatly influenced by the Dragon Warrior & Ys RPG series.
So it is no accident that they look similar.

The TG16 is still a great piece of hardware. I've said for a long time the all the open source people should stand as one behind some game console or another and really make it take off. I Just didn't think it would be an old one. :P

  12. Well, MindRec are also producing an old-school 2D vertical shooter for the PCE DUO CD:

    Xymati (tentative title).

One of the lead programmers posted a thread at shmups.com forums mentioning many interesting tech features about the game, while also answering a lot of queries:

    Quite an interesting read.

The sales took off higher than they expected, but they weren't expecting much. :/

From what I hear, the game is pretty good. This was definitely not a hoax.
