  1. I saw a sub that had a command to specify at which coordinates certain lines should appear. What is this command? What other special commands are there?

Also, my subs are conformed for a videofile with a resolution of 720x400. When I view them with a videofile of a smaller resolution, the text that's designated to appear at the uppermost part of the screen get screwed up because of the smaller resolution.

However, when I watch Kung Fu Hustle with subs, its default resolution is 640 x 256. With subs, it's 640 x 360. How do I customize what the resolution size should be so that any videofile will display the texts in the same way?

.srt subs doesn't have any other info than the text, and when it should appear.
.ssa is more complex, and has all kinds of tricks up its sleeve.
How these are rendered, is really up to the subtitle filter in use.

idx/sub is images of the subs,(together with timing info on when to display what image) and has its own resolution (in contrast to text based subs). Again, it's up to the filter how it's rendered on screen.
