I decided to try the new burner and here is a few things I don't understand. I don't know if it's the burner doing it and this is the problems people talk about with it?
1) I ripped a DVD-RAM disk and put it on a DVD-R and DVD+R as a data disk. I tried both it's VRO (I think) format and as an AVI format. It burnt it on the disk o.k. (or so it says) but when I try to get it from disk back to hard drive it doesn't work. No matter what I try to get it over I just get error messages before it is done. Such as "parameter is incorrect" or "data error cyclic redundancy error." If it wrote it to disk o.k. then it should be able to be read off the disk o.k. I would think? Is this the bad read/write errors everyone is talking about with these DQ60 drives?
2) When I burn a disk at normal quality it looks o.k. (I guess) but when I burn it at high quality the video gets lighter and darker like the light is flickering or something. This isn't a movie copy or anything like that. It is just a home made dvd from a set top burner. i.e. take home movies and put it on a dvd with a dvd recorder. Is that problem from the burner as well? I'm trying to see if these problems are from the burner or from something like the software or computer.
3) I burn over some VOB files to make room on the hard drive. Later when I tried to move them over again the burner wouldn't do it. Saying it had errors. Again, is that the burner's fault?
What's the point of having something that can read and and rip RAM and other files and put it on a data disk just so the burner can't read it back? I'm wonder if all of the errors I read on line (bad burn, errors, etc.) is what I'm getting too when I try to bring back that RAM file/VOB files that I burn on this burner?
I think for the most part, so far, it does burn and read back other data things like pictures, documents, music, etc just not video files burn as a data format instead of a DVD Video format.
How do you know if you got a burner that does bad burns/burning errors anyway? I've been reading about it but I don't know what I'm looking for?
