  1. DVD Decrypter came up with a redundency error, so I used DVDFab Decrypter, but DVD Shrink says that there's invalid data in the first VOB. My ultimate goal is to create an xvid for playback over my xbox.
Has anyone else gotten this error & if so, what did you do to fix it?

  8. Yeah, I think it's a dirty disc also. What's a safe way to clean them?

I just use conventional CD/DVD Disc Cleaning kit.

You can buy them from most electrical stores.

I got mine with a DVD/CD Lens Cleaning kit. It comes with a lint-free disc cleaning brush aswell.

Compression window says 70% for just the movie. 59.2% for the full disk.

I clean disks using isopropyl alcohol 91% and a mirror and glass cleaning cloth. Isopropyl alcohol is available in grocrey store and drug stores, just make sure to get a 90% or higher bottle. The stores will have like a 60% isopropyl alcohol and it will leave streaks on the disk. I also believe a old tee shirt would make a good cloth. And a fifty cents spray bottle and there you go.

I've tried ripping two copies now of War of the Worlds disc 2, using both of the latest updates to Dvd Decrypter and DvdFab Decrypter.

I can rip it to the hard drive, but when I use my burning software, Roxio 8, it's not reading the VOB files.

I've tried burning it also with Nero, but it states that the project may not be readable.

With Nero Recode I get the message: Failed to open the file VTS_05_0.IFO. There are no more files.

    Any ideas?

No problem using dvddecrypter , vobedit , besweet , ifoedit , dvdshrink , imagetools .

1: rip entire dvd to hd .
2: Strip down to video and audio asset's .
    3: Re-encode ac3 to lower bitrate .
    4: Regenerate vob title .
    5: Shink just slightly under 4.3gig .
    6: burn .

Everybody enjoy's it .. stick it in and go ... the way I like them .

    As for disc error's .

Washing the plastic carrier face will remove any trace's of grime that might cause read issue's .

Use cd scratch remover fluid : http://www.wipeoutcdrepair.com/cgi-local/store/commerce.cgi?product=WIPEOUT

I personally demonstrated how serious this product is as compared to other's ... nothing beat's it for value .

1: Nail scratched half way through plastic media carrier .
2: Fine sand paper to remove most of deep scratch .
3: Wipeout to finish scratch .
4: Smoker's tooth paste for the final clean .

    Played 100% .

Be aware , the disc could be produced on inferior media ... there could be a small bump on the written side .. there enough to prevent copying ...

Hole's are a no no (the one in the middle is acceptable ... lol) .
