I just downloaded an avi movie that has russian dubbed over the english speaking words. Is there any way to get rid of the russian?

If you are lucky it has been done by putting english in one channel, and russian in the other. You can save the audio out as an uncompressed wav file, load it into an audio editing package, copy the english channel over the russian (replacing it) and you have an english only soundtrack. It will be mono, but otherwise OK.

If it has been dubbed over the english soundtrack then there is nothing you can do.

Just so you know you can use virtualdub and click FILE-SAVE WAV to strip out the audio.

  4. Hi-

I have a possible different take on his problem. My guess is that he has 2 different audio streams, is using the crappy Windows Media Player, and they're both playing at the same time. If so, either use a real player, or install the Morgan Stream Switcher which will allow you to choose one or the other:

I recommend ditching WMP and using almost any other player. Try Media Player Classic, for example.
