  1. If this has been answered a million times, I apoligize.

I have authored a concert with dvd lab pro. I have made 2 menus.
One with a play all and one with a setlist.

I manually inserted 16 chapter marks, for the 16 songs and linked to them in the setlist menu.

On the first burn, 3-4 of the links didn't work (the ones with long names)
So I made the song names shorter, re-compiled it, and now only one of the link buttons won't work. When I scroll down on the setlist menu it skips over one song, as if its not there. And when scrolling back up, it skips over a different song.

All of the chapter marks are perfect. I can skip through them once in the video. Does anyone know what the problem is with the links?

I could be talking crap but I'm sure you can have 32 buttons in a menu but sometimes buttons are duplicated for full screen/widescreen so you may only have 16 to use. I get the feeling that having 16 isn't allowed or you are using more than 16 so it's just dropping them without warning. Do you have any more buttons on the menu?

your better off just splitting the menu and having 8 on each

this is my navpack program I created for troubleshooting

If you get the navpacks from the VOB's and can upload them somewhere so I can grab them then I'll take a look at them. From the small DVD files I can still see your menu button layout without the need for the Video/Audio and then I can see what the button structure is and how it's setup

  4. Thanks for the fast replies. I will check out your prog.
I just checked, I have 15 songs listed, 15 links total, and its the second to last song that it skips over.

This same thing happened a while back, and I dont think I ever fixed it.

This may be overly simplistic, but do you have the box marked Auto-Route in the menu ticked? Sounds to me like a navigation link problem.
On the right side of Auto-Route there are red, green, blue, and gold arrows. Untick Auto-Route and click the arrows one by one. This will show you your navigation links for each direction. Just draw whatever links are missing.

@MackemX - I've never heard of the 32/16 button limit on a menu before. I've authored a menu with 50 buttons/links in the past and it was fine.

  6. Shadowmistress,

    Thank You so much!!
That was exactly the problem. For whatever reason, it skiped one song. I just redrew the lines, and it works perfect.

  7. On a similar note, I have a concern regarding having two seperate menus, a play by chapter and a play all like xvid's settup. ... I'm hoping that someone can lend me some advice.

In doing this is there an easier way then inserting the movieclip twice for each menu? Is there any way of just having the one movie/concert set and using it for both menus? Whether the movie is one continuous movieclip, or a number of seperate clips ... either way is doable. Just hoping to learn a way to do this for spacesaving purposes.

    Thanks in advance.

    Kay

I'm sorry, I'm having trouble understanding your setup. Do you mean you have two motion background menus that share the same background video but just have different buttons/text? How long in seconds is this video?

Or are you inputing 2 copies of your full length movie onto the dvd, one for each menu?

I'm not familiar with the xvid setup so if you could post a screenshot of your menus or your connections window that might give me a clue what's going on.

I got it wrong as it's it's 36 buttons per menu by the looks of things. I was just thinking in base 2 (2,4,8,16,32)

    http://www.dvddemystified.com/dvdfaq.html#3.7

Each menu has a still or motion background and up to 36 highlightable, rectangular "buttons" (only 12 if widescreen, letterbox, and pan & scan modes are used).
saying that you can have a different set of buttons per Navigation Packet in the VOB so you could have more than 36 buttons per menu but not all active on the screen at the same time . It can be split into groups also that restrict the amount of buttons even further if you use aspect settings for the buttons (4:3/16:9/Pan&Scan)

I've spent many hours within the Navpacks and learnt quite a lot about menu button structures and workings while I developed Menumodder.

If anyone is interested this is the menu info that is within the menu VOB in the navigation packs if you open it with VOBEdit. It looks complicated but it's not rocket science and is rather simple once you get the basics

you should only have to add your movie once and just make sure you have chapter points set. after that you just add the menu's and select the movie (movie1) to play in each by customising the menu. Just create the menu's and then right click the buttons and tell it what to do. You must have your movie in the project for you to be able to select it though . I suppose you could create a menu first and then drop the movie asset into that but I always started with the movie first and then added menus afterwards

I won't go into the nitty gritty as I haven't used it in ages but you can do it, I just don't know exactly what to tell you

I thought so but just couldn't believe how silly you were being. Sad, very sad indeed you bring 'other' issues into this thread

please tell me it isn't just because I showed that you can only have 36 buttons after I incorrectly thought it was 32. So what if I then explained how I knew and gave examples just in case anyone was interested? It's information that is there for other people to use as I bet quite a few didn't know that but now they do and some may even appreciate it

that's all I did and then you feel the need to say something stupid like that? Give me a break SM as I get the impression you think I was disrespecting you by showing it's 32 after you said you had more or something when all I was doing was just babbling on

I guess you don't know me that well as I did this all the time in the last 3 years as I'm not just an OT freak. I just love quoting technical stuff as sometimes it does help people and I've done it many times before as someone in the future may find the info useful

next time, please don't feel the need to thank me on behalf of others trying to be funny if you take something personal when it's got nothing to do with it at all

It's because you're babbling on. Now stop it. Quit threadjacking with these gigantic posts that offer little to no help to the op and go off topic.

The first op's problem was solved. I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't threadjack the threadjack untill the second question can be answered.

get real SM as you are thinking this is personal. I'd love you to show me what is irrelevant in this thread and how I've threadjacked it. Regardless it still doesn't give you the right to tell me I can't post info in a thread (that is partially relevant) as nobody has that right unless they are a mod or Baldrick. I'm pretty sure those guys appreciate my posts anyway so I've got no worries and I certainly don't need you to tell me I'm threadjacking

as I said, sad very sad indeed if you have issues with anything I've said in this thread if you think it is isn't relevant but I think it's got to do with 'other' things

I've reported this thread and hopefully a mod will cut this crap off it

@Shadowmistress, I suggest you thank me via PM's

if you have a problem with me babbling on then feel free to report it to a mod but dont bring your issues into a thread as it just spoils things 8)

you had 3 options but chose the wrong one

I honestly have no idea what issues you're talking about. Nor am I interested in continueing this discussion.

yeah right but I might as well continue until a mod tidies up the mess

I'd like to know exactly what made you feel the need to post a thankyou (I'd already been thanked ) on behalf of the ops for answering a question nobody asked in the manner you did trying to be funny. I was correcting something I'd said and you didn't know as far as I see it

just because the op has got his answer doesn't mean I can refer to something in the thread and correct it and show why with relevant info as you think the thread is now dead . I honestly do believe it's because you have took it personally as I may have showed you as talking bullshit about having 50 buttons (even though I'm still not 100% sure the max is 32) added to the fact about the recent closure of the Pub

shame, as that was the furthest though from my mind but hopefully you will get over it so I can continue to help people

like I said next time you should just PM me or report it to a mod that I'm threadjacking

really, now your changing your tune

I refer to an earlier post where you let slip a bit of your 'true' feelings

telling me I'm threadjacking, babbling on and also to go to Off Topic

like I said, you don't know me before I came to OT and don't get too bothered just because I've went back to my roots to help people again and I babble on . I'm pretty sure someone would have mentioned it by now if I had been

like I said, next time why not let it go if my posts bother you too much, or just PM me or report it to a mod instead

If any threadjacking is going on it is being done by Shadowmistress who decided to attack MackemX for providing usefull information on a topic that he brought up as being a possible problem.

Granted, as it turns out, his talk of "number of possible chapters" was not the problem the original thread creator was having but it was something he suggested that could be a problem (before the solution was found to be something else) and he just wanted to clarify and correct what he had said on the topic.

It ties in and is not threadjacking IMHO ... something which is not open to interpretation

Thankyou mate as it was exactly that as I was correcting my own incorrect suggestion and gave plenty of info as to why and I'msure at least one person will use that info one day. If that's in any way off thread topic or threadjacking then I'm wasting my time

hopefully next time SM will not get 'personal' over something so petty and not bring 'other' issues into it just because she thinks I only did it to prove her wrong . Like I said she doesn't know my past regarding helping people so it's understandable

    cheers

His (referring to MackemX) LONG post, the one you seem to indicate as being a threadjacking post, was made in referrence to an earlier post he made before the second question was asked.

He wasn't ignoring that second question so much as clarifying something he said earlier.

You (Shadowmistress) are being thick headed here for no good reason that I can see ... just give it up already.

didn't I attempt an answer here?

    https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1414179#1414179

it can be done, I just don't know how to do it exactly so couldn't specify it

nice to see someone here sees the original intention and I did actually answer the 2nd question after my long post

sorry to the mods etc but if I didn't raise this issue in this thread it would just surface elsewhere as it's not the first time and it only spoils things

You know what? There was never anything personal against you in any of my posts. Nor did I have any issues with you. I'm so sorry I ever bothered to address you in any way.

Excuse me for trying to keep the thread on topic long enough to answer the second question. You obviously can't stop flaming me here and I've said nothing to encourage you.

It would be nice if people could retain a professional decorum around here instead of posting all their farfetched gossip.

You really are NOT having a good day are you?

    1.) MackemX was NOT threadjacking.
2.) He answered the 2nd question.

I'm not good at linking to individual posts within a thread so I'll just quote it here to save you from scrolling up:
