Ok, I tried to burn my already authored .vob, .bup, and .ifo files with CopytoDVD, Nero, Tmpgenc, DVD-lab, IFOedit, DVDShrink, and DVD Decrypter but everytime I try to play it in my DVD player it always says "Incorrect Disk". However, the disk plays fine on my computer, so what's the problem then?

Did you burn the video_ts and audio_ts folders as well????

Or did you remember to finalize the disc?

Two main steps to remember are to include both the audio_ts and video_ts folders of the dvd:

    example D:\
    audio_ts
    video_ts

They are the main directories. That is what the dvd player is looking for.

Also you have to do disc at once or click "finalize" or some such terminology depending on the software to make it a finished disc.

That is of course assuming the files were authored correctly.

Also be sure that your player can read the type of disk you're burning. Most newer players will read both +R and -R, but some won't. Older players are more likely to have a problem with +R.

Hi and welcome to the forums

I'd agree with BobK and say +/- issues or the fact your player doesn't like that media as my first thoughts

maybe you can answer a few questions

    what is your standalone player?
is it + or - you are using and what brand is it?
how did you get the files in the first place?
did you rip and compress a DVD?
is this your first DVD burn?

just because it works in your PC won't matter as most times they play a lot more media or faulty discs that won't play in a standalone

yes i burned the video_ts and audio_ts folders too

how do i find out if it's +/-?

my standalone player's a toshiba sd-v291u and a toshiba mw27f11c (the second one's my tv that has a vhs and dvd player built into it) both of them were bought recently so they can't be old

i downloaded the files from the internet

no i didn't rip the dvd (i'm sorry for asking this, but what does compress mean? i can't really understand the definition in the glossary )

yes this is my first burn

yes i'm sure my dvd player can read the type of disk i'm burning

    yes i finalized the disk

when you say "change the media" do you mean change the type of disk i'm burning it on?

also, the files were already authored when i downloaded it off the internet. only the thing i tried to burn with dvd-lab and copytodvd were mpeg-2 files when i first got them and had to author them myself

I'd keep the fact you got the files from the internet to yourself in the future as it will only raise an eyebrow . Make sure you are aware of the rules before posting more information about this DVD as I've seen it many times before

is it still considered illegal if the files i'm burning is never going to be released onto dvd? like, they'll show it on tv once and that's it.

it still doesn't matter if it's unavailable in your country and I'd stop while the going is good before you get a warning as each reply digs you a deeper hole

Like I said I've seen it many times before

    enjoy
