Well, I am trying to burn a VCD, and play it on my DVD player right? ok. Well, after I burn the VCD and try to play it on the player it says to "Insert a playable disk" or something. I know that it can play VCDs because the box says "DVD/VCD compatible" and because I tested a VCD anime Movie I bought and it worked. Anyway, I have tried burning the Sample MPEG with Nero for NTSC VCD, and everything. I just can't get the player to play any VCD I burn. Maybe I am not doing it right? (if it helps at all I have a Philips DVD619)

Now, I have reason to beleive that it doesn't work because of the CD-R's I am using (Sony "Audio" CD-R's - All I have around right now) Could that have ANY bearing?

  2. "VCD compatibility" does not equal CD-R/W compatibility.

A DVD player must be BOTH "VCD Compatible" and "CD-R/W compatible" to be able to play a home made VCD.

Why don't you try burning an audio CD onto the media your are using and see how that plays in your DVD player.

If you do have a media compatibility problem, you will have to experiment with different brands of CD-R media to find one that works. Often, CD-RW works better in these circumstances.
