  1. Hello,

I've been using VSO DivXtoDVD to convert things lately and have been very impressed with the speed, quality, and ease of making a movie DVD without a menu. I would now like to try making an episodic TV show DVD, but would like to have a menu for it. If I use DivXtoDVD to convert the videos, is it possible to edit it in another program to create a simple menu?

    Please help!

    Thanks,

    Benhermies

TMPGEnc DVD Author is perfect for that purpose.
    Use import DVD.

  3. Thanks for the tip, but I seem to have bad luck with TMPGEnc DVD Author. I've made a whole bunch of DVD's with it, but when I got around to actually watching them they'd die on me. Sometimes in the middle of the video, and sometimes even at the menu itself! Out of the 20 odd DVD's I've made with it, only about 4 are any good.

    Any alternate suggestions?

    Thanks.

What media are you using? What is your set-top player?

  5. It's an RCA DVD player, about 4 years old, can't remember the mode, but generally plays everything. I used about 3 different brands of DVD+-R's when I used TMPGEnc DVD Author (Ritek & others). DVD-Lab doesn't give me problems. Can I use that or something else to add a menu?

Have you been able to play a DVD from the DivxToDVD conversion? (Just trying to isolate the problem.)

  7. Yep, the DVD's I make with DivXtoDVD work flawlessly. Not a bad disc yet.

My old method of converting videos was to use Mainconcept MPEG Encoder to convert the files and then compile a DVD with DVD-Lab. Sometimes it worked fine, but quite often the sound would go out of sync. I'm not sure if it was Mainconcept or DVD-Lab that would do that, or maybe even both because sometimes I'd try TMPGEnc/Plus/Express with similar results.

The problem I'd get with TMPGEnc DVD Author, it would just stop... that's it. I'd have to power off and on the DVD player to eject the disc.

I have tried DIKO, AVI2DVD, and The FilmMachine, and most often then not they will crap out on me during the conversion saying some part of the AVI file doesn't meet some standard or something. UGH!

    HELP!

You can use DVD Lab to create menus for your DivxtoDVD created works, however I would strongly advise demuxing the vobs back to streams before beginning. There are a number of apps to do this - rejig is free and good.
