Audio problems in VCDs.

I know I've posted this question before but i'm still having problems.

I have ripped DVDs using Smartripper, DVD2Avi then TMPEGEnc. Since I use the given templates (VideoCD PAL), I presume all the settings should be right.

After burning the VCD, it plays fine on my computer but not on the standalone VCD player. The audio is choppy and wavers. Can someone help?

I use DVDdecrypter > DVD2AVI > Tmpgenc > NERO 5.5.5.1, I have no problems at all, could be your standalone maybe? (mines a Pioneer 434)

The reason why I asked if you used Nero is:

(like the suggestions above) for some strange reason not all burning software is compatible with all standalone DVD players. As far as I know, Nero does not have this problem. I believe the original poster had a "stand-alone VCD player" not a DVD player.

If you are having problematic playback, it is almost 100% certain that there is something wrong with your VCD.

I suggest that you should try another program to author and burn your VCD (e.g., Nero, WinOnCD, or VCDImager).

Yeah, I have feeling it's the standalone player that's giving the problem. I'm in Singapore and VCDs players are much more popular than DVDs in Southeast Asia anyway.

Besides, the VCD plays fine on my computer. I'll try burning it with Nero and see what happens. Thanks.

PC VCD players tend to be much more forgiving than a stand-alone VCD player.

Stand-alone VCD players require your VCD to stick to specs much more closely than a software player or even a DVD player.

Try Nero or WinOnCD or VCDImager to see if it works...

Ok, I've tried Nero, doesn't help. I'll try the rest. I don't think i did anything wrong in the ripping and encoding stages right?

I made sure the audio was 44100 and 224. I guess if it's the player that's giving the problem, I can't do much about it.

Before you try burning again, try remultiplexing your source MPEG with bbMPEG (on the VCD settings). You may have a muxing problem.

heh...sorry if repost since i browsed through the other posts really quickly..anywayz....did you ever try switching the brand or type of cd-r u used? could be the standalone dvd or vcd player can't handle certain type of cd-r. i believe it's mainly pioneer dvd players can play all types of crappy cd-r thrown at it.
