    Can anyone point me to a good start!!! I have a sony handy cam with digital8. I have my firewire card working, and I have been able to capture clips from the camera with the software that came with it. What I want to know is 2 things.

    1st How can I capture and make DIVx
    2nd. How can I capture and make my video fit on CD to make them VCD so I can show them on my DVD player.

    Also one more thing, any good starting quides in PDF for TXT format that I can D/L and read?

    there are lots of guides at this site and links to others, take a look at a few of them, try a few and then come back with any questions, to start you are going to need virtualdub, tmpenc and a vcd burning program like nero or easyvcd.
