    Hi,

I had a few instances where my burnt DVDs wont play in LG DVD players
( Not sure of the Model Numbers ) I think it may be a DVD recorder / VHS combo model.

I make 100's & 100's that work with every other brand of player out there

Does anybody know what it is that the LG models dont like about my disks

    I encode MPG2 with procoder at between 6000 & 7500 bts
    I use DVD-Rs Verbatims only 1 - 8 speed
    I burn at 1x speed
    I use a Pioneer 106
    I encode audio to AC3 ( normally 192 kb x 4800)
I author menus and chapters with TMPGenc author 1.5
The DVDs always start with the main menu screen.
    I use TMPGenc templates

I hope somebody has stumbled through this problem and can point me in the right direction so I can make adjustments for clients who tell me they own LG. ( I'm guessing LG wont be recalling there players on the strength of my problems LOL )

    thanks
    Scott

I have an LG LH-C6235 (combi) and it pretty much only plays original DVD's.

I too would like to know why!

  3. I have a LG DVB418 it plays dvix and a host of other file types, but will pause in spots on DVDs created by various DVD recorders. Drives me nuts !

  4. OK I don't get this as well. I have a Harman Kardon DVD22 player which I thought might be "higher-end" enough that it would play anything I throw at it but that isn't the case. I burned one movie (Mad Hot Ballroom) on a Fuji RW, a Fuji DVD+ and a Verbatim DVD+ on a Sony 530a burner and on my laptop burner and still there are audio breakups. I tried it on a Sony DVD player and the same thing. Plays fine on my computer. Tried ripping again and nothing. Burned as iso's and video files (as you can see I was determined to find the right way to do this).

So what is it? Is it the DVD players? Is it the burners? Is it the media used? Is it the burn software? I tend to use DVD Shrink and DVD Fab decrypter to rip and DVD-RB to compress (where necessary). I use Nero or imgBurn to burn.

Is there a full-proof procedure to get this right.

    One word: media

Not all players will play all types/brands of media. Try a different media. Try looking up your standalones in the DVD Players section and see what types of media others have found to work or not work.

99% of the time, if a disc works in multiple players and not another...it is media. The other 1% of the time it is just a bad player.

Also, "higher end" players are not more compatible. Most of the time, the expensive players are more picky about media. The most compatible players seem to be the cheap brands such as APEX.

I only use Taiyo Yuden media, and I have not had any issues with any of the players in which they have been played. Your milage may vary...

As Krispy Kritter says; those 39.00 players from Wal-Mart, K-Mart etc... seem to play anything you put in them, probably the kitchen dinner plate also.

I gave away a 200.00 sony that was picky and picked upa 50.00 cheaper that handles it all.
