I didn't think so. While I have you on the line, what is the best cheap dvd recorder with HD?

I am getting tired of computer capture for the straight transfers, but I need to cut out the side change on LDs and also trim the heads and tails from VHSs. Or I would not bother. May as well have the content right right!

WALMART has the Pioneer DVR-531H-s for just under $300

It is a stand alone DVD recorder with a built-in 80GB HDD

That's the cheapest I can think of unless you go with a "non brand name" like maybe an ILO or LiteOn. I think they have HDD models that are just a touch cheaper but not by much.

    P.S.
Although the Pioneer 531 is "exclusive" to WALMART you can find this model (sealed in original box and brand new) on eBay at prices that are often a bit cheaper than WALMART.

So far this is a good machine did a few vhs transfers... trust me I have done more than 1600 VHS transfers on Lite-Ons and Trutech's this is a good machine, for you folks with digicamcorders and other such devices this machine has no dv input unlike its cousin the trutech tt1620 .. I hacked the region thing and thanks to a friend I have some brit tv shows on dvd that will fail in an unhacked machine. Posted the hack yesterday. Tested with a macrovision VHS "The Mechanic" a film I know has macrovision on it, she fails miserably with macro, tried the hack that someone posted on the 1600 of recording blue screen or tv then pausing it and starting the tape, man that one sucks fails each time.

  5. 3.two inputs one S-VIDEO on the back and one composite in the front ignore another member who sweared up and down this unit did NOT have the S-video input jack..
    Mr kenmasters83 ...i meant to say it didn't have the front s-video input...sorry i didn't state that correctly.....and i didn't swore up & down about it .
Anyways My Dad bought the Cyberhome 1200 & was not pleased at all with the picture quality on SP mode & returned it this morning and decided to take lordmurf's advice. He went & got the Samsung dvd recorder for $100 after rebates. But the price isn't bad on the CH 1200 its well worth the $72.00 especially when it records to both dvd formats.

I was at BEST BUY and CIRCUIT CITY today.

Both had different model LiteOn DVD recorders but both looked similiar and both came in a box that was indentical in size/shape. Both had identical features (including MPEG-4 playback) and both were selling for $119 at each store.

Of course I didn't write down the model numbers.

I just looked on-line and the BEST BUY website is down right now but here is a link to the LiteOn at CIRCUIT CITY: CLICK HERE

The Circuit City website has it listed at $99.99 but it was $119 at the store. Also they did not have the Samsung in stock that BEST BUY has (the DVD-R120) but it is on the website and the price is about the same as BEST BUY (with mail in rebate).
