i have an HDTV avi file that I'm fooling around with, trying to find the optimal encoding settings to fit 3 of them on one DVD, and also having the picture be clear.
The first time i encoded, i did 1-pass CBR @ 6,000kb/s with 16:9 aspect ratio
the quality was good, except it didnt fill the screen, it had a black border all around it.
I checked Frame Size [resize 720x480] and re-encoded.
Fills the screen now! But there are frames with out of place colour boxes, such as green or other bright colours. I've tested it and it only happens when i check resize, regardless of bitrate
how can i get around this?

Use virtualdub or avisynth to frameserve to CCE, rather than using CCE's resize. I do this all the time with no ill effects. Also, CBR 6000kbps for my money is getting on the low side. I would use 2 pass VBR with 6000 as the average and max/min of 8600/2500

  5. I use Fit2Disc or FitCD to generate Avisynth scripts to drop into CCE, it couldnt be easier, you dont really need to know anything about writing scripts as the app does it for you!
