  1. many of the disks I've been writing have a problem playing back. playback gets "stuck" sometimes temporarily but eventually it can't play anymore. this most usually happens towards the end of a movie.

the situation does seem to be improved if I play it in on my computer as opposed to my set top dvd player.

I'm not sure if this even has anything to do with ffmpeg but has anyone else had this experience? any tips or ideas what it could possibly be would be appreciated.

Accidently posted in the wrong topic. Sorry.

  3. If you are using ffmpeg to encode, such as in the "DVD ffmpeg" preset, it sounds like your problem could be do to the fact that ffmpeg is not truly a constant datarate encoder: your "stuck" could be the data spikes causing trouble on standalone dvd players.

Either re-author your movie with Toast, ie have toast re-multiplex it because toast since 6.0.7 tends to even out these data spikes. Or, try re-encoding your video using mpeg2enc such as in the "DVD mpeg2enc" preset.

*If the playback problems are happening on your computer, this is likely not the problem.*

    Cheers,
    Alph
