Have you tried using windows movie maker ?
In windows movie maker , import clip , then File , "save movie file"
Save to "my computer" , then next , followed by name of file .
In next box to show , there is a blue text line "show more choices"
Click it , then "other choices"
Chose ouput "high quality video" , for me its pal (au) , then next .
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The file can now be edited by using virtualdub to how you want it .
You can then re-encode to wmv9 by importing each clip into windows movie maker and drop one at a time onto the time line and output it , then remove that one from the time line , and repeat the process till you have converted each clip .
I used to have to original encoder utility here , as it allows choice of codec , however , windows movie maker dosent say which it's using , just wmv ... -
thanks Bjs, but the problems is that the source files are mpegs, and i use virtualdub-mpeg to edit them, but the "save as segmentet AVI" option just doesn't work for me
and i'm using wmv9 compression for the output files
