I could use a SIMA box and remove color while using a dvd recorder (recording from vhs), but the Sima seems to have some a degrading effect on the image. Is there a PC editing thing I can do to remove color?

  2. Just about every editing program has an HSV (hue, saturation, value) filter. Just use one and turn the saturation all the way down.

I have NERO and ULEAD but they stall when I run them. Also have TMPGencoder but I don't think that has any color control. Any freeware you can recommend?

  4. TMPGEnc has color filters. Go to Setting, Advanced. Select Simple Color Correction. Turn Red and Blue all the way down to -255.

I have TMPGenc 1.6. After loading a dvd file which is then called TRACK 1, there's a Settings button but no options for color, nor Advanced setting...I was just emailed that my TMPGenc version won't remove color.
I did download WAX 2.0, and will give that try. Thank you all for your advice and patience.
