I have a vcd that is a recording or a TV show and I want to duplicate the vcd. I searched on this site for info on how to do this and one posting said:
"Save as iso to hdd and then burn from iso to cd".
As I am a newbie, can someone please translate that into simple step by step English? To give you some info, I have a Nero software that contains the following options. (CD-rom(ISO), Audio cd, Mixed mode cd, cd extra, cd copy, video cd, super video cd, cd-rom(udf), cd-rom(hybrid),cd-rom(udf/iso). I have just one cd burner/player unit on the computer. Given this equipment, is there a simple way to duplicate the vcd? I have one other comment. Another posting said get Isobuster and extract out the mpeg1 and then burn another vcd using Nero from that mpeg1. Ok, so I got Isobuster. It took about 10 minutes for Isobuster to extract out the mpeg1. My question is this: If I make a vcd using Nero from this extracted mpeg1, will the resulting vcd be EXACTLY as clear as the original? I don't want to lose any quality when I make a duplicate. This is important.
Thank you very much to anyone who can answer these two questions.

Can you not just do a disc to disc copy, if you only have 1 drive Nero will burn an image and then prompt you to enter the destination disc

A simple disc copy with most software would do just as well.

Thank you for the help. I downloaded Imburn and tried to follow your directions and was unsuccessful. I couldn't get the vcd disk file(s) into the imburn. I got an unsupported file error. I tried clicking many different things but had no success.
Then I tried the second suggestion. With some effort, I was able to succeed. I started Nero and chose "cd copy" as the option among the choices on the left side of the window). Nero then just guided me through the steps. (first insert the original vcd into the cd drive). After several minutes of copying the vcd to the harddrive, then the original disk popped out and Nero asked me to insert a blank disk. The blank disk automatically was burned with the copy. I think Nero is a REAL good software in this case for beginners.
If the person who wrote about Imburn can give me additional, more detailed information about how to copy a vcd with Imburn, please write back. I need to know exactly what to click, not just brief general info as you gave.
>Download and install imgburn. It's small, simple and free. Select Mode -> ISO (Read) to create the ISO file, then Mode -> ISO (write) to burn it >back to CD.
>Can you not just do a disc to disc copy, if you only have 1 drive Nero >will burn an image and then prompt you to enter the destination disc -
Imgburn will create an ISO file (a bit for bit copy of the disk) on your hard drive in mode ISO -> Read (look at the mode menu). You just load this ISO file up when you change mode to ISO -> Write and pop in a blank disk.
It isn't wizard driven like Nero, but it's also a lot smaller and less bloated.Read my blog here.

I have downloaded and installed v1 of Imgburn. I inserted the vcd and I have clicked seeming everything and I can't find anything on the software that corresponds to what you say, ISO> read, or anything that says "mode menu". Under ISO, the only option is "Change Volume Label".

Jimdagys, I believe guns made a slip there as Imgburn appears to do just that....only burn images which you need to already have.
For example (forgive me as I am not that familar with Nero and use Alcohol 120% more often then not), when you did the disc copy and it copied the contents of the disc to your harddrive (if you didn't select delete image after burn or something to that effect), Nero was basically making a disc image for you and burning it to disc.
Now lets say you didn't delete the image, come back a month from now, you could reburn that image Nero made with Imgburn.
Hope this helps,

Then, according to what you say, I will delete the Imgburn.
Could someone please answer my first post on this thread; ie, if I want to make a duplicate copy of a vcd by using Isobuster (use Isobuster to extract out the mpeg1 and then use Nero to burn another vcd from that mpeg1), will the resulting copy be as clear as the original vcd? -
Yes the extracted mpeg1 should be as clear as the original vcd, however, you'll need to 're-convert' the mpeg1 back to a TRUE mpeg1 because in the VCD the mpeg1 contains vcd extentions.
While you may hardly run in to problems, I think ALOT of people around here would suggest re-converting back to a true mpeg1.
Depending on your machine, extracting the mpeg1 and converting it back could take considerable time and I think thats why most are suggesting just using disc copy.

Don't use ISOBuster. You don't need it if you are just making a copy of a VCD. ISOBuster is good if you want to extract the contents of a VCD to put on a DVD, otherwise it isn't only making things complicated.
You had the process right a few days/posts back

What's wrong with doing it this way ? If works, and the quality will be exactly the same from copy to copy.Read my blog here.
