I ripped Scary Movie 2 and The Patriot following Sefy's Newbie guide. I followed it exactly with the exception that I used SVCD as my TMPGENC template, and went with (full screen-keep aspect ratio) not (full screen-keep aspect ratio 2). the scary movie 2 came out full screem, 480x480 and looks a little vertically stretched. The Patriot is also 480x480 but is in widescreen format(black bars on top&bottom) Both movies have this occasional, every 5 seconds, minor flicker-like thing. It is very noticable during bright scenes. Please help me reduce this flickering and make them both full screen w/out having the picture stretched

I don't know about the flickering thing, but it is supposed to look vertically stretched on your PC. Think about it... you just went from 720x480 --> 480x480.
Both VCDs and SVCDs have a DAR (display aspect ratio) of 4:3. That is, regardless of the resolution, it will be displayed with an aspect ratio of 4:3 on the TV. Assuming in the conversion process you have always set the destination aspect ratio as 4:3, it should look correct on the TV.
