  1. I recently have been experiencing problems by not being able to burn any video to cd-r .

    In the past I was able to burn vcd's no problem. Yet in past week, I have been getting increasingly poor quality burns a lot of skipping and now its to the point where discs can't be read at all.

    -defragged the hard drive
    -used proper burning software, Roxio
    -burned at a lower speed
    -tried different brands of cd-r
    -switched to CD-RW instead of CD-R

    Recently,
    -used disc cleaner
    -tried switching to a different burning program , Nero

    using dell laptop, inspiron 5150:

    drive model#: QSI CDRW/DVD SBW-242

  2. I would say it's your writer,buy an external or see if the laptop is still under warranty.

  4. see the funny thing is that I can burn a bunch of word or excel files to one disc and it burns perfectly. The only problem is video . . .

    btw, I also did a virus check one with my anti-virus program, F-secure and one online, panda active-sccan and nothing showed up.

    Another thing is I used to burn video using the "send to" feature in windows explorer and that no longer works, for video. Instead I have use to use a burning program, where as before I never needed to.

  5. Roxio and Nero don't play nice together,uninstall Roxio.Make sure to uninstall Roxio's packet writing software too.

  6. see the thing is that I can burn word files and excel files no problem using the either program . . . so is the software conflict you are referring to . .only effected by burning video files?
