  1. I just got a Toshiba Satellite that has Windows XP, has a TEAC DV-28E-B DVD ROM. It WON'T play VCDs that I have made, and when I try to open the DVD drive to access a DVD, VCD, or even just a CD with video files stored on it, it won't even open the drive (in Explorer or otherwise). ??? I'm not sure what is wrong, but I am definitely frustrated! Any suggestions/help?

I just bought the same notebook, the windvd that came with the notebook does not play vcd's, even though it is ver3.0 which is supposed to, I don't think they encluded that in the software, I installed ver 2.3 over the top of it and it now plays vcd's just fine.

BTW, after getting everything working on this notebook and using an external burner, I did a complete dvd rip to vcd in about 6 hours, and that was for a 2 1/2 hour movie....*S*
