I would only add to the above reponses, that DVDShrink (used properly) should not have any problems with "older" titles. A few of those released in 2005 do have newer forms of copy protection that can cause DVDShrink to choke, and these few discs can stump it. However, Most of those are easy to identify, just by searching this forum (most have been Sony titles, or Columbia or Tristar titles, and only the ones released after December of 2004). All "older" titles should not cause DVDShrink any problems.

So, it may be important to ask if there is some other cause for many of your failures. Perhaps a "bad original disc," in that it is in need of some cleaning, or it has gotten fingersmudged, scratched, or somehow marred? Or, is there something in your system setup which is making things "hit or miss"? DRM versus PIO problems, or lack of memory, or a conflicting driver (Roxio has one that sometimes conflicts with Nero, a popular burning tool for use with DVDShrink)?

If you are having problems with older discs, it is very likely that switching to a different ripper is not going to magically solve the issues. You are very likely to find that any other similar ripper or compression software still fails to function, for the exact same reason. I would suggest that you try to get to the root of the problem, instead.

    Just my thoughts,
