  1. I have used a number of DVD burning programs and all of them give me a blue screen error when burning a DVD. What can I do?

I also appear to now have a NERO IMAGEDRIVER SCSI problem, as it is telling me it is not configued. They must be linked in some way. I have looked on the net and many peopl have this same problem, but no one seems to be able to find an answer to it

    Anyone have any ideas?

The first thing I'd do is fill out your computer details in your profile. Without knowing what OS and what hardware you have, it's pretty much impossible to give you any advice.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  4. Did any of the burning programs work at any time?

  5. In the past I have burnt a few Mpeg2 files to DVD. This time I am trying to burn Divx to DVD as a Data file. This was a long time ago but since retrying to burn nothing has worked. I have used Nero, Easy CD/DVD creator and a few others as well.

A couple of suspects. Nero Image Drive. Image drives can cause conflicts with other burning software. Same with packet writing software like InCD.

I would use NeroClean and delete Nero completely. And remove, at least temporarily, all other burning programs. Then try reinstalling Nero, without Nero Image drive and InCD.

  7. It seems data is being written to the discs but with a number of problem when playing back.

I am now using a diff version of Nero and this one is telling me that I cannot use DVD+R is this correct?

This could well be the problem as all the other DVD's I have burnt have been to DVD-R.

But I thought my Burner did DVD+R so its strange.

    Is this the problem?

  8. So apparently you do NOT get a "blue screen error with all of them".

I will assume the error message from Nero is as you have described. It is what it is.

To determine the capabilities of your drive, I would either have to read the manual or look it up on Sony's website. This excercise would be far more helpful to you than it would for me.

Upon further description it would seem that your issue is one of file conversion rather than simple burning.

The task is comprised of several steps. The task does not correctly complete. In order to resolve this issue, you need to break down the task into seperate components and test each seperately.

    Burn a data file. test

Burn a known good dvd video disk image. test

Author a known good mpg file. test

Convert a known good Divx file. test

Then, if all these work, convert the suspect Divx file, author it, then burn, testing that file at each stage.

You may or may not be aware that many downloaded Divx files are simply totally invalid and will cause errors at various stages of processing.

  9. Nelson, I still get blue screen even if the DVD is being part burnt. Also it would appear that my player should work with DVD+R as it is meant to. But this seems the major diff between when it worked and now.

I will have a go at your test, cheers

Also I know that Pinnacle Instant CD/DVD have an update that corrects the blue screen error. However my Pinnacle sotfware came prev installed and I can't get the update to work because of a code that I need but don't have. Have emailed them but as ever no reply to my email

  10. Ok I have managed to Burn a small 300MB Mpeg file using Nero DVD-ROM (ISO) and it runs fine.

From this I take it that it either DivX causing the problem or the size of the file. As far as file size goes I have before this been trying to either burn 3 x 700MB files to one DVD or just 1 x 700MB and the computer didn't like either size.

Therefore is it the Mpeg? I will try and test with a bigger Mpeg if I have one or a smaller DivX.

  11. Ok I have managed to burn an 11MB DivX file and this works fine as well. Therefore, it must be the size of the file? Am I right?

I don't have a big Mpeg file to test

  12. The 11MB file was burnt on Nero and it did not give any errors. But try and burn a 700MB DivX and it tells me I can't use DVD+R, weird, why is it doing this? Any ideas? Cheers
