I have several concert videos, broken down into 5 movies. Each movie has multiple songs which I want to create chapters for each song. So the overall DVD will have one main menu with 5 buttons that say for example:
concert #1
concert #2
concert #3
concert #4
concert #5
then when you select a button, (say Concert #2), it takes you to a new menu that says for example:
song #1
song #2
song #3
song #4
main menu
(main menu obviously takes you back to the 5 concert lists menu)
My problem is, I've been getting confused on how to create this DVD where after viewing a song, or in the middle of a song, when you press "Title" menu, instead of taking me back to the original menu (with the 5 concert buttons), it takes me to VTS menu 1. If you press root, it takes you back to the song menu you were in, which is good, but I've encountered a few loopholes.
If I create a VMG menu with the 5 buttons, and 5 VTS menus and movies, on the VMG, I can only link to the #1 VTS menu.
And if I don't use a VMG menu, and use my VTS menu #1 as the main menu, then create 5 more VTS menus, on my "main menu" button on each VTS menu, it won't let me link to another VTS menu, (VTS1).
OR, if I use no VMG, and only ONE VTS menu with multiple menus inside that, then menu 1 is both the root AND the Title menu. I know I can change the root menu, but essentially I need 5 root menus and 1 title menu. Get It?
When I select a concert, and select a song, I want each concert to be it's own "root" menu, and the main "main menu" button on the screen or the "title menu" on the remote to return to the main menu listing the 5 concerts.
Help, please, I'm stuck. Thank You.

O.k.
I tried it this way, and "technically" it does what I want, but I'm still having problems, and I think this is a very LONG way of solving my problem. Here is what I did:
I created 6 VMG menus and 6 VTS menus...
VMG1 Main
VMG concert1
VMG concert2
VMG concert3
VMG concert4
VMG concert5
and
VTS 1 Main
VTS concert1
VTS concert2
VTS concert3
VTS concert4
VTS concert5
Each of the concert VTS's has it's own movie with the songs set as chapters accessed by buttons.
VMG1 main has an invisible button that sends it right to VTS 1 main.
VTS 1 main menu has 5 buttons (concerts # 1-5).
Each button on VTS 1 main has a link to it's corresponding VMG concert #.
Each VMG concert menu is blank with a "blank" button, set to invisible, timeout=0, and links to it's corresponding VTS concert #, which has the song list and a "main menu" button.
So by doing that, when in a concert, with a list of playable songs and a "main menu" button. I can play songs at will, and when I press "root" on the remote, it goes back to the song list for that concert, OR, if I press "Title" on the remote OR the "main menu" button on the screen, it goes to the main menu concert list (concerts # 1-5).
Perfect.
However...
#1 If I wanted to add menu transitions, now I have an in-between menu to deal with...
VTS 1 main > VMG concert1 > VTS concert 1
and visa-versa.
VTS concert 1 > VMG 1 main > VTS 1 Main.
#2 the button on the VMG menu that I turned invisible, and the black background both show up briefly between menu changes. However on the second time you access it, the black background is always there, but now the button IS invisible?
HELP ME PLEASE!! AAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!! -
You have definately gone about it the long way.
If you have one title, with 5 chapters, create a chapter play list for for each chapter. You can then link to the appropriate playlist to playback just that chapter. You can also set the action for the buttons for each playlist to control the menu it returns to.
Get this working for one, then repeat for the other concerts. If the resolution and audio formats are the same for each concert movie, make life simple and use one VTS.Read my blog here.

If he does that then he can only play one song at a time from the submenu and I imagine he'd rather let the whole concert play, except when he calls the previous menu manually.
Ok dude, let's see if we can simplify this. First of all, put all your movies back onto the same VTS. If they can't all sit together because of different audio types and you need more than one VTS, the following instructions will have to be modified drastically.
Second, get rid of all your VMG menus and make your concert selection your root menu and add 5 VTS menus for song selections.
Now what we'll do is assign your Title button to call the concert selection root menu, and assign your menu button to call the song selection sub menus.
After you've made the 5 sub menus, in the connections window, right click on your first movie and down towards the bottom, select UOP & settings. Next to "Menu Button", see the dropdown box? Assign the first submenu and click ok to get out of there. Now when you press menu from inside that movie it will take you to the menu you just specified. Now go to your next movie and do the same, but this time assign menu 2. For movie 3 assign menu 3. For movie 4 assign menu 4, etc....
In your connections window, make sure you've drawn a line from Title to the root menu, and you're good to go from here. -
Shadowmistress is correct. I would like to select an entire concert, and if I have 5 songs, and I select song # 3, when that song is over, I would like it to continue playing the remaining 2 songs.
I will work on what you suggested and post my results. Thanks. -
O.K.
That DID work.
At first, when you said add 5 VTS menu's. I added entire new VTS's, then added menus to them, and I was getting confused.
But then I realized you meant just add sub menus to the VTS #1.
I definitely went about it the long way originally.
Thank you very much for your help!!

Shadowmistress, the living, breathing DVD-Lab Pro help file. Another great result.
I said I'll be done in a minute. I meant a Microsoft minute.
