  1. I really did try to search for the answer first - I'm sorry if this was asked previously...

I'm using MPEG Streamclip to export audio from a MPEG1 file. Trouble is, when I use either "Demux to AIFF" or "Demux to M2V and AIFF," it gives me an AIF file that is 44.1 kHz. I need the file to be 48 kHz.

Is there a way to change it so it gives me a file of 48 kHz? I didn't see an option in the Preferences.

There are work-arounds. I can chose "Export to Quicktime" and make the file into a movie file (containing 48 kHz audio); or I can take the 44.1 audio and have Quicktime export it as a 48 kHz file. I will do that for now, but for the future I'd like to know if there is a way to make Streamclip do this for me...

    Thanks in advance!

  2. As you have discovered, MPEG Streamclip can resample 44.1 audio to 48 kHz only with video, not audio only.

So currently you have to 1st convert also the video, then demux the converted 48 kHz audio with MPEG Streamclip.

Or, more simply, demux 44.1 Khz audio with MPEG Streamclip and resample it to 48 kHz with QT Player Pro. This is faster because you don't have to handle video. AFAIK MPEG Streamclip currently uses the QT engine for the audio resampling anyway.

BTW, I wondered the same thing just the other day but decided that this is such a rare task that I didn't bother to ask the MPEG Streamclip author to add the 44.1 to 48 Khz resampling option to the audio extraction.

Why do you want to do that? To import the 48 kHz audio only to a DV or a DVD project?

  3. Yes, because the version of A Pack that i have can only make AC3 files from 48 kHz audio. It's so I can put muxed MPEG1 files on a DVD.

Actually, this workaround isn't all that bad. thanks for you response!
