Ok I want to pick up a song on itunes or musicmatch but I can't figure out the title.

I believe its an 80's tune or maybe early 90's.

The main chorus is "be my bodyguard and I'll be your long lost friend".

At least I'm 98% certain thats it. I may have mixed up if its "will you be my bodyguard or let me be your bodyguard.

Any help will be great. And I've tried yahooing it but some of the lyric engines aren't helping.

And no its not from the whitney houston BODYGUARD soundtrack and its not the Bee Gees BODYGUARD song (already listened to a sample of it and no).

    FYI the singer is male.

Its called, "You can call me Al" by Paul Simon and was on the Graceland CD. That's an awesome song on an awesome album. You should just get the whole thing. I listen to that CD probably once a day.

    this it?

    Paul Simon "Call Me Al"

A man walks down the street
He says why am I soft in the middle now
Why am I soft in the middle
The rest of my life is so hard
    I need a photo-opportunity
I want a shot at redemption
Don't want to end up a cartoon
    In a cartoon graveyard
    Bonedigger Bonedigger
    Dogs in the moonlight
    Far away my well-lit door
    Mr. Beerbelly Beerbelly
Get these mutts away from me
You know I don't find this stuff amusing anymore
    If you'll be my bodyguard
I can be your long lost pal
    I can call you Betty
And Betty when you call me
    You can call me Al

A man walks down the street
He says why am I short of attention
Got a short little span of attention
And wo my nights are so long
    Where's my wife and family
    What if I die here
    Who'll be my role-model
    Now that my role-model is
    Gone Gone
He ducked back down the alley
With some roly-poly little bat-faced girl
    All along along
    There were incidents and accidents
    There were hints and allegations

    If you'll be my bodyguard
I can be your long lost pal
    I can call you Betty
And Betty when you call me
    You can call me Al
    Call me Al

A man walks down the street
    It's a street in a strange world
    Maybe it's the Third World
Maybe it's his first time around
    He doesn't speak the language
    He holds no currency
    He is a foreign man
He is surrounded by the sound
    The sound
    Cattle in the marketplace
    Scatterlings and orphanages
    He looks around, around
He sees angels in the architecture
    Spinning in infinity
    He says Amen! and Hallelujah!

    If you'll be my bodyguard
I can be your long lost pal
    I can call you Betty
And Betty when you call me
    You can call me Al
    Call me Al

    BUMP!

Well I finally looked into listening to the whole Graceland album. I'm back on the Yahoo Music subscription plan so I can listen to any of the songs without having to buy each one first.

I like it. I don't know that I like each song 100% but its pretty nice. I like the beat and the bass guitar in it. Has a different feel to it then a lot of other albums - naturally

I think I'll download it but not buy it just yet.... maybe someday but for now I'll just use my subscription.

Thanks again for the help on this one

answer was simple Yoda, drop Yahoo as Google is your friend

I was pretty sure what it was when I saw the post and I see Adma told you what it was. I just put your 1st set of lyrics in and added the word lyrics to the search and the majority of initial results point to that song

either you suck using search engines or Yahoo sucks if you struggled to find that one

p.s. great song choice by the way 8)

Me and Julio down by the schoolyard....

Sorry, for some reason that tune always pops into my head whenever I think of Paul Simon, that and the fact that the bum stole the lust of my life. Jk

Just a belated reply. If you are really stuck for a song title but know a few of the words, then go here:

    http://findmeatune.com/

All you need to do is type in a few words and it will come back with a list of possible songs. Worked for me trying to find an obscure song from the 70s.
