Lets see if I can explain this right. Well sometimes I make mistakes on setting a timer to come on at a the correct thing; I notice the mistake and shut MMC off of record. Now later on I let a show go on "manual record" where I will shut it off when the show is over. Up in the upper right hand corner of MMC there is a little clock icon, when one click on this one notices three catagories. Record for; Record Until and the last being Record Until Manually stopped.
I had the check mark on "Record Until Manually Stopped", meanwhile in the "Record For" list is the time listed of how long the timer was to record, as in this case 1 hour 4 minutes, this is a the bottom of a list which has 30 minutes at the top of the list, followed by 1 hour and then 2 hours.
Well I had a movie I was recording and it was a movie that was 3 hours long and at 1 hour and 4 minutes it shut off of record. I didn't notice it until I came back in the room and since I missed a chunk of the movie, I just deleted what had been recorded.
What caused this flaw? If I had set that timer for over 3 hours or more that would be in the "Record For" List at the bottom and this wouldn't have happened. But I figured since the "Record Until Mannual Stopped" that should be what counts. I am pretty sure I deleted that timer in the part of MMC where you delete your timer settings.
Anyone have a clue how to deal with this? My capture card is a "ATI All In Wonder 9800 Pro" and it came with MMC 8.5 For the most part I am very pleased with it, and I think it was well worth the investment. I am rather scared of upgrading to a higher MMC because my internet connection which is dial up has dropped to 29kbs and it would take a long time to download. Also I am just scared I will screw up the whole thing, uninstalling this and that.
Another thing that bugs me is that on occasion when I set a timer or even when just putting it on record I get a swishy sound that distorts the sound of the movie or tv show. This happens more frequently when I have a timer set in MMC and I haven't left MMC running; where the program actually launches itself and the timer kicks in. This bug me so much that I just leave MMC running whatever is on at the time and just let the timer kick in later without having MMC launch. Now this swishy sound continues even after I shut down MMC. Then when I relaunch the swishy sound goes away and we are back to the just the volume of the movie. It confounds me, this strange little flaw.
I am curious if this kind of thing has happened to anyone else and what is the solution. The sound thing doesn't happen all that often but enough that it shaped the way I use MMC. The MMC Version is 8.5 Thanks in advance for any advice on this subject.
