I am having the same problem as you, so I am very interested in a fix too. Seems like video locks up, but audio keeps going and continues to write to the mpg file with the frozen video. You too?

    Only thing I found here:

  4. I have the exact same problem.
I have tried to solve it every possible way I could think of; looking in the registry, re-installing the full (WInXP) system. Etc.. etc...
Older already done MPG files do work but newly made mpg files suddenly won't cut/join anymore.
In the end I suspect TMPGenc 2.02 to be the guilty one, IMHO it writes something wrong in the registry or changes the codec or whatever.
So I tried all older versions of TMPGenc, and none worked till I found the earliest version 1.2a This one could do the job still for a few movies in the last days, but today even that version suddenly without changing ANYTHING to the system gave the same problems.
Now I'm stuck, with a 1,5GB version of "15 Minutes" and a 1,5 GB version of "Memento", can't cut them into 2 pieces anymore.... Also VCDcutter gives problems, and so does VideoPack5 (Roxio) that cannot handle None-Standard VCD's.

I still hope/think the problem is/started with TMPGenc 2.02 and a new (soon to be released ??) version will solve it.

  5. Right. I'm getting the same freeze-up (total!) with TempGenc. System: AMD/Athlon, Via KT133A mboard, 256mg ram, 30gig hd with 3-4gig open space. Got all the ripping (Smartripper/DVD2AVI) done just fine, just can't get the encoding done. So far two other of these freeware encoders are giving me circular commands, anything dependable out there? Thanx,
