My Pioneer 106 frequently gets into a state where certain DVD-RW's are working just fine and then are suddenly unusable. I'm currently trying to erase a new Fuji DVD-RW, and the drive simply won't mount it so it can proceed to erase it. I get a message "Sense Key=MEDIUM ERROR, UNABLE TO RECOVER TABLE OF CONTENTS" I have a hard time believing the disk is worn out already. There are no scratches or marks. Besides throwing it away, what do you do when this happens?

Well, for one I would try to erase it on someone elses machine and see if the same error pops up. The same has happened to me and at the same time I have been able to write /erase a disc till it was so beatup I could not stand to look at it anymore. What software are you using to erase the disc? I don't think you mentioned it.
No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD!

I'm using Toast. It must have something to do with the position of the moon, because today it erased with no trouble.

You might want to fill out your Computer Details. Without the mention of 'Toast' I would assume you were talking about a PC, not a Mac.

You may have gotten all kinds of strange 'PC' replies.

Not sure why, considering that the Pioneer 106 is neither PC nor Mac... That's where the error is coming from. Er, *was* coming from.
