  1. Hey, im new to ffmpegx but I had the same problem long ago with tmpgenc and learned to fix it by using virtual dub to remove the audio track and create a HUGE wav that tmpgenc could read.

I tried the same aproach with ffmpegx, and it wouldnt even attempt to encode it. No it just sat there and gave me the barber shop symbol on the progress bar but the bar did not progress. I highly doubt ffmpegx cant read a wav...

I tried with ffmpegx VCD, mencoder VCD, once using QT once without. No audio.

QT on my system can NOT play divx movies, because divx drivers dont support OS Tiger yet, so I havent installed them, im using ffmpegx to play back Divx files. QT cannot, although Toast offered to add divx support upon installing it... I declined.

What is weirding me out is the files created by ffmpegx, even though they are MPEG 1's... lack the mpeg extension. Whenever Iv doen this using tmpgenc (this is a windows only encoder) i at least get the .mpg extension. With ffmpegx im getting something like .avi.ff or sometimes .mpv

If anyone could help, that would be great.

  2. If the bar doesn't progress it doesn't necessarily mean it doesn't work, check the destination file in Finder and check if it grows in size. Also try to disable "Normalize audio" in the audio tab.

  3. It was't growing in size, but the normalize audio is worth a shot... My mac is in TN being repaired (the touch pad started to peel off) as soon as its back ill try your meth out. So you're basicly saying to click and encode and go occupy myself doing something else and forget about the progess bar. Alright, will try and post back next time.
