I got my Duel 2Ghz g5 all kitted up for film school - brand new to Final Cut Pro and already its driving me insane - IM using version 5 which i belive is the current version.

I'm trying to edit a multicamera setup - ok so far, Ive made a multicamera track - under the impression that i could flick in realtime from one angle to another.

Why is it every time I change Angle - the whole sequence needs to be re-rendered- its rediculous - I havent changed anything other then what clip im looking at - all of a sudden UNRENDERED comes up and all i hear is beeps.

I cant work like this - I used imovie and it gave me no grief.

This makes no sense - I understand why rendering is used - but why do i need to render every time i change camera angle? also as soon as i make one change i cant look at the footage without rendering and playback haults - i know im doing something wrong but what im trying to do is cut between 2 angles at a gig i filmed in real time by pressing 1 or 2 on the keyboard - simple as that.

please let me know what im doing wrong.

  5. The forums not very active late at night. Most reponses come from folks who long on while they're at work, or get home from work. I tend to long on in the morning, but frankly didn't know the answer to your problem. I'm still using FCP 4.5 and experience the same frustration with the rendering. I prefer the iMovie approach, with the sound and picture both rendered as soon as you import it.

Anyway, glad you found a soluton.

I think your entire study and film making career will be a very rocky one, as you don't understand creativity and contribution and the way they payback later, sometimes years later.

Its about bringing something to the table, not getting something out of it instantly.

Very sad to read your post.

  7. I agree hiptune. Many of us here tune in to help each other out. There are usually 5 ways to do anything in FCP, and people are here to help if you ask, plus Trust me get the FCP Official training book. It will answer some of your simple questions, like the one asked.
Oh, I went to film school... good luck keeping a crew if you have that attitude. I Agree with hiptune - try to lighten up Lukiebaggs. Oh, and welcome to our forum.
