I rip my DVD using DVD Fab Decrypter, then I try to load the files into DVD shrink and I get some sort of error like bad data in video_....ifo. DVD shrink can not continue.

I couldn't find a way around this problem, the final version of DVD shirnk with any DVD running in the background didn't work. It all got a bit messy using nero recode (why do I have to have a picture saying video removed!?)

I copied the ripped main movie files to a new folder, got ifo edit to "create ifos" and then if the DVD was still to big loaded into DVD shrink or just ripped using nero.

Im not sure if this is the best solution but it worked for me, has anyone else encountered this problem/know of a better way of going about this?

I ran into a similar problem when working with madagascar. I used dvd decrypter, but dvd shrink didnt like one of the files. So i ran the files through vob blanker, and then magically dvd shrink worked with the processed files.

Just load it into VobBlanker and hit "Process". That's it, think of it as "washing" the file structure. Supposedly for some movies it also works to run it through DVDRebuilder at no compression. (Many updates to DVDFabDecrypter have supposedly fixed the problem of output which DVDShrink won't accept. But the problem recurs.) Good luck.
    Pull! Bang! Darn!

Man try doing some reading and clicking. You are in the wrong hobby if you don't know how to use VOB Blanker. Follow the above instructions. It's that simple, really!

Download an old version of shrink. I had to use version 2.3 on Madagascar, and it worked great.

  8. kirk.mufc,
After reading THIS thread posted by you and now this thread I think the problem is your DVD-ROM/writer or the discs are badly scratched.
What are you using to rip?If it's an NEC then there's your problem.

I ran into that same problem only once with DVDFab Decrypter and DVD Shrink. My way around it was to click on the File Browser tab and drag the files into the DVD Structure. Worked perfect for me.

I've never had a problem with my NEC2500A, for what it's worth.

Because NEC are notorious for being bad rippers, get yourself a Toshiba or Lite-On DVD-ROM...or better yet another writer. Here in the states DVD-ROM's are almost the same price as a writer and the firmware isn't being updated as much.

Is there any specific ones that you would recomend, primarily for ripping? In the price range of about $150 at the max.

    I have a BenQ 1640 and it works great,it cost me $44USD(37EUR).
If space is a concern or you use a laptop:you can get an external drive for $50USD(43EUR) more.
