  1. Hello there, I've been trying to encode a 700MB avi file and convert it to SVCD, but the thing is, the whole movie has bad frames, from the start to the end. Though what im puzzled about, is that why when i play the movie on VLC media player, i don't encounter any bad frames, its as if it didnt have any, unlike playing it on windows media player, it continuously plays with bad frames. Now i tried encoding it through TMPGEnc, but it still shows bad frames. Here's what i mean:
Is there a way to fix this? Thnx in advance!!!!!

If VLC plays it fine (usually, that an AVI plays, tells you nothing about the itegrity) but WMP don't, I suspec a codec issue. Try getting the latest butld of whatever codec is used, or a different build (there are several XviD builds), or try ffdshow. WMP (and TMPGEnc) uses DirectShow - VLC uses internal decoding. Conclusion: Problem with DirectShow codec.

You could also the AVI through GSpot to see what codecs you have or which it needs.

  4. Hi mats.hogberg and Mystice,
First i'd like to say thank u for replying so soon and trying to solve my problem.
mats.hogberg: Ok, though i have other movies that are Xvid codec and works fine when i play it thru WMP, so i'm pretty sure that i have the latest Xvid codec, but i can find out the latest(u think it wont harm the way my movies play if i download the latest Xvid codec?). Another thing, when i play this movie, i get an error: An error occured in WMP, it may need to shut down. So you mentioned that i have problems with my Directshow? what exactly is directshow? and will ure suggestion of using ffdshow solve my problem???

Mystice: I've checked the AVI through GSPOT and said that i have all codecs required to play this movie
