If i burn an image that comes as an .nrg file, delete the image, and then rip the disc with some software .... will i end up with the same image, or does the ripping process introduce tiny errors/differencies?
I am interested in retaining the originality in the release. I do know though that for audio CDs, you cant really rip a CD twice and expect the exact same files (at least thats what i've heard on the hydrogenaudio forum)
peace

Using good apps and good media, burning an image, ripping the burned disc back to image and burning second image to second disc will produce 2 identical discs, yes.

I'd say you get identical copies also regarding the video content as it shouldn't touch those parts
even if it did change it, I doubt you'd be able to see it -
I have no doubt the video will look identical when watching it...
... but actually i meant down to a real byte-to-byte comparision.

byte to byte the video will and should be the same, I cannot vouch for the rest such as the pointers etc
I might be wrong but I've never seen it when I've done byte compares -
Yes, it will be a byte for byte, bit for bit identical copy.

That is why the RIAA and the MPAA are so freaked about digital copying and P2P sharing. If they share a image of the original it is equal quality to the original if the AVI'd or shrink it then the quality will suffer.
So IMHO hydrogenaudio forum has to be wrong if they're talking CD to image and back to disc.
Same prioncipal applies to utils like Norton Ghost, when you image a drive and later restore it it is identical to the original at the time of the imaging or it would be useless.
