Does anyone know how to transfer a large file? I have an IRC friend who wanted to send me a 72MB vid file. We tried IRC, dropload, yahoo, and nothing worked. Either it would take 12 hours or nothing woudl happen. Anyone have a simple way of me getting the file?

I always use MSN messenger for this and it has never failed me
If at first you don't succeed; call it version 1.0

what kind of internet connection do you have? if they have access to an ftp site they can upload it there and then you can download it..but i don't see why a straight transfer isn't working..

filefactory is pretty good for this type of transfer, except you have to upload it before your friend can download it.

  6. ....or get your friend to setup an ftp server (any shareware ftp server package) and intall a shareware download manager on your system (eg: star downloader) and this will max out the possible transfer speed.

If something happens, you can auto resume where you left off. A cable to cable or high speed dsl connection can easily transfer 70 megabytes, using this process, in under 2 minutes.

first off, you should use something like WinRAR and split the file into 5mb chunks so if something goes wrong you don't lose everything

AOL IM allows you to send files and I think it resumes downloads if you can't get it all in one go. You can also allow each other access to folders so you can get stuff when the other person is not around
