Just bought the full version of svcd2dvd after trying lots of other tools for making episodic DVDs and this looks by far to be the easiest method of making DVDs.
I have no problems adding assets and designing the menus but whenever I start to make the DVD the program locks up my machine after only a few percent of encoding the first file.
I've suffered the same problem trying to encode other files using DIKO although I have had some success with earlier files in the series and thought the problem might go away with this program but it hasn't. Is it something to do with the avi files themselves or is the problem with my machine (hopefully the former as I can't afford to upgrade my machine at the moment)? The only way to get out of the crash is to switch off and reboot.
Other than that a great looking program which I hope to get years of use out of. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have looked through the forum for similar problems but have been unsuccessful so far.

Wow, fast reply.
Running Windows XP Home on a 1.8 Athalon XP with 512Mb RAM and a TNT Riva graphics card. I forgot to mention that I've even tried running the program in safe mode in case there was a clash with any other software running in the background but with the same result. LIke I say I did have some success converting the first 14 epidodes of Lost using DIKO but for some reason anything after that causes a crash. I thought that maybe it was the remaining Lost .avi's that were a problem so tried some old Simpsons show I've got lying around but still no good.
Wondering whether it's an overheating issue after looking at another forum. -
perhaps you can run Speedfan or MotherboardMonitor to check your system temps?
Speedfan:

Maybe time to pop open the case & get some canned air in there?
I also suggest you might try uninstalling/reinstalling S2D. This has fixed other issues in the past. -

Bingo! Took the side panel off my machine and success (well, on the second attempt anyway, first time my drive ran out of space), one DVD happily burnt and working fine.
Like I said, great program, really easy to use. Now perhaps I can get on with converting loads of TV stuff I have on my harddrive and clear it all out. Thanks Chris, keep up the good work. -
