Anyone know why the volume is so low on a VIDEO_TS -> DivX conversion??

I play the movie from the VIDEO_TS folder and it's loud, then without changing the volume I play the DivX version and it's WAY lower!! I have tried using the Gain adjustment in ffmpegx and it really doesn't help, and that's not really a good workaround anyway as you would have to guess for each movie.

Any solutions to this? Is there a better format to convert to, to get around this?

    anyone????

  3. The 0.0.9t mencoder has no gain control. Revert to 0.0.9s mencoder, waiting for 0.0.9u.

  4. Does 0.0.9v correct the mencoder (lack of) audio gain issue? I've been still using the older ffmpegx binaries with 0.0.9u because of it.

  5. 0.0.9v has same binaries as 0.0.9u. However, 0.0.9w will use new binaries.

I also have problems with low audio volume on version 0.0.9x. It works well on version 0.0.9k by setting the audio gain to +3, but on the newer version the audio gain does not seem to work. Does any one have any ideas.

    Thank you.

For conversion into divx, try D-Vision3. It does not exhibit this low-volume problem. It is also a free tool.

VisualHub also works well to boost volume. This is what I use when encoding for my Archos player.
