  1. I have some Xvid files which are taken from a 16:9 widescreen picture. However, they're displaying at a 4:3 ratio (560x416 pixels) which stretches the picture vertically. As I'd like to play these on my DivX DVD player, is there a way I can fix the display ratio without having to reencode the files? I've tried mpeg4modifier but have had no luck yet.

  2. I think avi does not have selectable aspect ratio. I think it's always 1:1. You must resize to 560 x 312 (in that case) to obtain a "16:9 aspect ratio". Try it.

Have you looked in the manual for your player ? There may be a setting to allow you to play back 16:9 material

  4. You can change the display aspect ratio with MPEG4Modifier. I doubt your Divx/DVD player will pay any attention to the setting tyough.
